Billy J. White 1933-2008

Billy James White, 74, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2008 in Leavenworth.

Billy was born June 27, 1933 in Sioux City, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Elmore on December 31, 1955.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, retiring in 1973 after over 21 years of service. His tour of duty included the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Navy, he served as the Food Service Director at the Des Moines General Hospital for 14 years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marcella McClurg.

He is survived by his wife Jeanette, of the home; his son, Steven (wife Judy) White, of Leavenworth; daughter, Paula Mehmen, of Indianola, IA; grandchildren: David (wife Elke), Steph, and Daniel Mehman, and Brooke White; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services with military honors were held on Friday, June 6, 2008 at 10 a.m. in Leavenworth National Cemetery. The Rev. Ed Mease presided.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Belden-Larkin Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
