Rick Callaway 1915-2016

Richard Rick Callaway, 90, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at home, with family present.

Rick was born Sept. 10, 1925, in Witwen, Wis., the youngest of 10 children. He spent his youth on a farm, He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS DeHaven DD-727 as a Seaman First Class. He was a member of the DeHaven Sailors Association.

He was recently chosen as an Honor Flight participant. He worked in the funeral business for most of his life, including opening Craig Road Pet Cemetery in 1980. Rick loved the Lord and served as a deacon at Foothills Baptist Church for over 20 years.

He and his wife also served in foreign missions from 1998-2000. He loved life and his family and his sense of humor brought joy to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, of 70 years, Dottie; daughters, Laura Poynter (Bryce) and Karen Gloyd (Larry) both of Las Vegas; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
