Alfred Carter Jefferson 1928-2015

Jefferson, Alfred Carter 87, died of an aortic aneurism on February 28.

He taught European history and writing at UMASS Boston, and more recently, writing in the UMB OLLI program.

Born in Dallas, he served on the USS DeHaven DD-727 in the Korean War, taught history at Wayne State, U of Michigan and Rutgers. He was active in politics in Michigan and New Jersey.

More recently he was a family therapist and a founding editor of the Internet Review of Books. A Funeral Mass followed by a celebration of his life was held on March 21 at 11AM at St. Cecilia's Church,18 Belvedere St., Boston, MA.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lucy Jefferson; his daughter, Laura Jefferson, of Concord,NH; their long-time friend Jenny of Jamaica Plain, MA; grandson Sam Jones & his wife Kimberly Bradshaw and great-grandson Nathaniel Bradshaw-Jones of Somerville, MA; granddaughter Eleanor and Matthew Arnold of Leominster, MA; and sister Emily Jefferson of Dallas, TX.
