Tommy Lynn Crowe

Tommy Lynn Crowe of Georgetown passed away on September 21, 2019. Born in Luling, TX, Tommy moved to Austin with his family where he attended McCallum HS and then graduated from Southwest Texas State University (Texas State).

Serving in the Navy, Tommy reflected on his time in the service with great pride and treasured the friends that he made there. He served aboard the USS DeHaven DD-727 as a STG 3.

Upon returning from active duty, Tommy married the love of his life Carol Sue Fancher of Austin. They recently celebrated 50 years of marriage and raised two sons.

After the Navy, Tommy began working for the Texas State Agency of Purchasing and General Services Commission and would complete a career there that stretched over 30 years. Starting out as a purchasing agent Tommy advanced to become Acting Director of the commission.  Upon retiring from the State, Tommy served on the Board of Directors for Texas Industries for the Blind and Handicapped, TIBH; now known as WorkQuest. Through his role at TIBH Tommy would help create thousands of jobs for handicapped Texans.

Tommy was always surrounded by friends. No matter what stage in his life he never met a stranger. He was always quick with a handshake for the men and a hug for the women, offering “I’m from Texas, I’m a hugger.” He was famous for the countless stories that he gathered over time and his ability to captivate those around him. His kind and generous nature touched those that came into his life. He was one of a kind and will be deeply missed. Gatherings will never be the same without him, but his memory and his stories will live on through those that knew him.

Tommy is survived by wife Carol, son Jason and his wife Carri, son Blake, brother Don and his wife Doris, and nephew Allen and his son Ryan.
