Floyd Thomas Eastwood 1935-2024

Mr. Floyd “Little Bud” Thomas Eastwood, Sr., 89, son of the late Benjamin Thomas Eastwood, Sr. and Glendora Mizell, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, December 8, 2024.

Mr. Eastwood was a native and lifelong resident of Pitt County. He graduated from Stokes Pactolus High School in 1953 and married the love of his life, Nell Clark, in January of 1954. He then enlisted in the US Navy where he proudly served upon the USS DeHaven and the USS Cunningham from 1954 to 1958. After returning home from serving his country, he farmed with his father, worked with ParGas and Stokes & Congleton, then moved on to become the Eastern District Manager for Taylor Oil Company (ETNA gas stations) from where he retired after 26 years. Soon after retirement, he founded Old Creek Mini Storage which he owned and operated until he sold it in 2008. He also co-founded Old Creek Trailer Sales with his brother David in 1997 and Eastwood Golf Car & Trailer with his son Stacey in 2008.

In 1960, he became a member of Parkers Chapel Free Will Baptist Church where he served faithfully until 2021 when his declining health prevented him from attending. He had numerous hobbies & interests throughout his life which included becoming a private aircraft pilot, riding his Harley, restoring old cars, trucks, tractors, and various other kinds of equipment. He unselfishly served his community, neighbors, family, and friends, hosting numerous pig pickin’s and fish stews. He had a servant’s heart and didn’t know how to say no when he was asked for help. He loved taking care of people. His proudest accomplishment, by far, however, was his family. He loved and provided for them until the very end.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Nell Clark Eastwood; a brother, Benjamin Thomas Eastwood, Jr; sisters, Edna Ambrose, Rosa Lee Boyd, Madeline Nichols, Lila Jones, Bett Tyson; and grandson Matthew Davis Clark Eastwood.

He is survived by his son, Floyd Thomas Eastwood, Jr (Tanya); Stacey Clark Eastwood (Lyn); daughter, Rhonda Eastwood Sherrod (Patrick); Grandchildren, April Eastwood Howell, Ashli Eastwood Billington, Adam Thomas Wilson, Rachel Wilson Ross, Brandon Heath, Darrin Heath, and Rick Sherrod; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, David Eastwood (Carol) and Norman Eastwood; two sisters, Dot Kirkman and Peggy Eastwood; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family extends tremendous thanks and appreciation to Gentiva Home Care (Olivia Steward and Lakeshia Pope) for their supportive care and services.
