Gareth D. Allen 1951-2008

Gareth D. Allen died December 5th, 2008 at the VA Hospital in Augusta, Georgia of Mesothelioma cancer. He was 57 years old.

Gareth graduated from Woodland Park HS in Colorado and joined the Navy in 1969; training at the U.S. Naval Training Center in San Diego, CA. He served aboard the USS DeHaven as a Machinist Mate, M-Division, forward, until 1973.

After moving to Alaska he worked for Civil Service on the Elmendorf Air Force Base for 26 years. He worked on the Aleutian Islands as a Pipefitter, rebuilding the AFB on Shemya. He explored the World War II bunkers of Attu and Kiska islands which where the only US soil occupied by the Japanese and where Americans soldiers won their first victory in the Pacific Arena, 1943.

Gareth was proud to be a member and Elder of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Wasilla, AK. which he helped to construct. He moved to Florida in 2003 to be closer to his parents and started a Home Remodeling business there. Gary enjoyed traveling, treasure hunting and Martial Arts.

His Grandparents and his father, Stanley N. Allen, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Marie Allen; son David G. Allen; mother, Margaret G. Allen, sister and brother-in-law, Kathy & Dallas Lutz; and other family & friends all over the USA.
