Robert Gene Gideon 1927-2012

Robert Gene Gideon, 85, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, in Amarillo, TX.

Graveside services were held at Panhandle Cemetery with Gemma Reyes, chaplain of Odyssey Hospice, officiating. Arrangements were at Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.

Gene was born July 28, 1927, in Panhandle to Al and Ella Vance Gideon. He married Rossie Lyles on June 28, 1952, in Panhandle.

Gene served his country in the Navy during World War II and Korea. He served on the USS DeHaven DD-727 from 1945-1947 as a WT3.

He was a metrologist for Pantex for many years. Gene was a lifetime resident of Panhandle and a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Carl Gideon and wife Elaine of Quinlan and Robert Gideon and wife Sheila of Amarillo; a daughter, June Gibson of Amarillo; a sister, Lydia Edwards of Borger; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
