Vernon Duane Laffere 1933-2021
Vernon was proud of his service in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. DeHaven DD -727 during the Korean War. He was a Boatswain's Mate Second Class. After his service he became a Kansas Highway Patrolman assigned to the Kansas City area. After several years he transferred to Concordia, Kansas. He worked at Clovd Ceramics until retirement. After retiring, he and Darlene returned to the Kansas City area to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Once back in K.C., Vernon spent many a happy hour at ballfields and basketball courts cheering on his grandchildren or working in his wood shop creating crafts. |
