Norris Dale McCann, 90 of Midland, passed away peacefully with his wife and children by his side at the Villa of West Branch.

He was born on November 11, 1929 to George and Gladys (Mapes) McCann in Ingersoll Township and remained a life-long resident of Midland. Norris worked for the Dow Chemical Company from November 1946 to September 1950 when he left Dow to join the Navy. He served his country for 4 years being honorably discharged on the 16th of July 1954. During his time with the Navy Norris was Machinist Mate 1st class aboard the USS DeHaven DD-727. He was a decorated veteran receiving the Korean service, China service, Good Conduct, United Nations Service and National Defense Service medals of which he was very proud.

After returning from the navy, Norris joined the United Association of Pipefitters and Plumbers, Local Union #85 retiring in 1986. During his time with the union, Norris worked for many local mechanical contractors in and around the area holding positions of welder, pipefitter, foreman, general foreman, superintendent and project manager.

He married Janis (Armbruster) McMahon on June 14, 1974 and after his retirement they traveled the US in their motor home as well as a couple trips abroad. Norris loved spending time working on DIY projects for himself as well as others who would often ask for his help or advise. In addition to projects and travelling, He loved working on his yard, fishing, boating and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Norris is survived by his wife of 45 years Janis McCann, his children: Mike (Becky) McCann of Midland, Russ (Ann) McCann of Buckeye AZ, Lori McCann of Midland and Brenda (John) Leonard of Midland. Grandchildren: Alison McMahon, Joshua and Aaron McCann, Nathan and Cory McCann, Aubry McCann, Evan and Alex Leonard, and Greg Lewitzke, 6 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Norris was preceded in death by his stepdaughters Sue McMahon and Carrie (McCann) Lewitzke, granddaughter Amanda McMahon, brothers Newt Mapes, Larry McCann and sisters Norma Shaffer, Marilyn Davis, Caroline Rys and Linda Heath.
