Jack Nottingham 1919-2010

Jack Nottingham, beloved husband, father and friend went to be with our Lord Jesus on June 6, 2010. Jack was born April 10, 1919 and was the fifth of six children born to George Benjamin and Margaret Silcox Notingham, who preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his siblings Ted, Kenneth, Ruth, Margaret, and Lucille. He was a graduate of Brackenridge High School and was married to his high school sweetheart Louise Oughton for almost 71 years. Jack served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS DeHaven (DD-469) and piloted a tugboat in San Francisco Bay during WWII. He returned to his home in San Antonio with a Purple Heart. Jack retired from Kelley AFB in 1970. A longtime resident of the Helotes/Grey Forest area, Jack ran the Helotes Auction Barn and Annex. He also served the City of Grey Forest as Mayor, Councilman, Police and Fire Chief. Jack may best be known as Project Manager during installation of both Grey Forest Utilities Gas and Water Systems. He is survived by his wife, Louise, daughter Jennifer Nottingham and son-in-law Jeff Davis, as well as many nieces, nephews and many, many dear friends.

Jack was a survivor of the sinking of the first DeHaven, DD-469, and was a long time member of the USS DeHaven Sailors Association.
