George A. Vecellio 1936-2017

George A. Vecellio, 80, of Westville, passed away at 3:30pm, Sunday, May 14, 2017, at his home. He was born on November 21, 1936, in Westville the son of Joseph and Alice Vecellio, both deceased.

On April 12, 1974, he was united in marriage to Glenda Tellier in Danville, IL. She will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by: his son, Aaron (Natalie) Vecellio of Danville; his grandchildren, Ethan Joseph Vecellio & Austin Jacob Vecellio; his brothers, Joe Vecellio, Al Vecellio, Dave Vecellio, all of Westville, Hank (Jody) Vecellio of Danville, Charlie (Carol) Vecellio of Danville, Gene (Gayle) Vecellio of Bismarck, & Ron (Chris) Vecellio of Michigan; and his sisters, Alice Sliva of Westville, Kay Edwards of Westville, & Nita (Larry) Lingo of Ohio. He was preceded in death by: his three brothers, Frank, John & Bob Vecellio; and his sister, Dolly.

George was a proud Veteran of the US Navy. He served aboard the USS DeHaven DD-727 and was a member of the DeHaven Sailors Association. He attended several reunions with that group.

He worked as a concrete finisher. He was also employed at the Danville VA for 13 years then retiring in 2008. George enjoyed fishing and playing Cribbage with his son. He had a strong work ethic and was always helping others. Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandsons.
