Leo Zimmerman 1929-1010

 

Zimmerman, Leo J. age 80 of Riviera, TX formerly of Albany and Minneapolis, MN passed away Sunday March 21, 2010 at his home in Texas.

Funeral Service Friday April 9, 2010 11:00 am Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia, MN with Father Martin Shallbetter officiating; visitation 1 hr. prior to the service at the funeral home; interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

Leo was born on June 16, 1929 in Albany, MN the son of Ferdinand and Zita (Klein) Zimmerman.

Leo was an avid bow hunter and fisherman, often feeding his brothers and sisters by trapping their dinner. He enjoyed camping, hiking and being outdoors, he loved all animals, especially bird feeding and watching their activity. Some of his hobbies included reading WWII history books, and he was an excellent photographer. Leo was a veteran of the Korean War and belonged to the USS DeHaven Sailors Association.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents Ferdinand and Zita Zimmerman; sisters Lucille, Lorraine and Margie Zimmerman; brother James Zimmerman; nephews Patrick Eckman and James Zimmerman.

Leo is survived by his loving family; daughter and son-in-law Janice and Ken Meyer of Young America, MN; son Michael Zimmerman of Santa Ana, CA; sister and brother-in-law Jeanette and Ray Eckman of Little Falls; brothers and sisters-in-law Linus and Cecelia Zimmerman of Avon, Jack and Rose Zimmerman of Albany, Norman Zimmerman of Madrid, Iowa, Paul Zimmerman of Grey Eagle; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
